Please help keep our city clean!

MAHNOMEN ADOPT A PARK OR TRAIL PROGRAM

The City of Mahnomen has two parks, the Mini- Park for children and youth, and South River Park which runs along the river off of Main Avenue heading south, it's a great park to take a stroll and feel close to nature. Combined, these parks offer exceptional amenities for residents to enjoy!  The City of Mahnomen also has a great walking trail that runs along TH59 from Washington Avenue to the Shooting Star Casino.  We hope you enjoy these parks and help us to protect these wonderful assests to our community!

Adopt a Park/Trail Pogram:  Taking pride in ones city is infectious, if you lead, others will surely follow!  The goal of the Adopt-A-Park/Trail program is to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment for our community, while allowing the city to better conserve and re-direct its resources!  This is a great way for community members to participate in a program that benefit's the entire community, cleans it up and makes our small city beautiful to be in, it is designed to assist the city with general park cleanup and special projects.  Neighborhood organizations, civic and church groups, scout troops, businesses, schools, families, and individuals are invited to partner with the city to improve the environment and quality of life in Mahnomen. The city will supply all necessary items to carry out these tasks  including gloves, trash bags, rakes, trash receptacles!

Please Note: This program will not be used in place of the city’s regular park maintenance.  Instead, the Adopt-A-Park/Trail program is designed to supplement current services and increase citizen awareness and pride in our parks. Clean, litter-free parks display civic pride!

Groups who wish to participate in the Adopt-A-Park/Trail program must agree to a minimum of a one year commitment to the maintaining of a designated park, trail or completion of a specific park project.  Planting, weeding, and general cleanup are a few of the activities volunteers can perform.  The city will work with groups to identify projects that fit the desires and abilities of the volunteers, as well as the needs of the city. Input from groups on identifying other needs and developing plans for park areas are welcome.

Groups must designate a leader to serve as the primary liaison to the city.  The group leader will be responsible for helping identify potential projects, and scheduling volunteers to complete the work. The group  leader  will  also  be  responsible for reporting progress to the city and notifying the city of any maintenance or equipment needs.  Timely and consistent reports will enable the city staff to maintain, restore, and improve park areas.

Please click  Adopt A Park Brochure link below:  Print the application and drop it off  at 104 West Madison Avenue (right next to the Mahnomen Public Library) to discuss details, schedule,  and locations where you would like to help with this program.

Businesses and Residents who participate in this program will be given a Service for Community Certificate( see attachment) but the real reward is in the service itself and spending time with our employees and friends.  Thank you from the City of Mahnomen!
